As an event professional, you’re no stranger to pressure. Tight timelines, long days on your feet, and the nonstop need to deliver flawless experiences.
But while you’re focused on everyone else’s needs, your own well-being, presence, and personal story often get left behind.
That’s where the power of storytelling and simple wellness strategies like posture resets and movement breaks come in.
In this post, you’ll discover how sharing your origin story and using techniques like Power Pauses can reduce stress, prevent burnout, and help you lead your events with calm, clarity, and confidence.
I'm willing to bet you're constantly juggling timelines, people, and pressure. And one thing that often gets overlooked? Yourself.
Your origin story isn’t just a personal anecdote, it’s a powerful way to connect with clients, vendors, and your audience. It builds trust, makes you memorable, and reinforces your why.
For me, it all clicked when I realized how much more I remember when something is shared through a story. I don’t just recall the facts, I recall how it made me feel. That emotional connection is what helps us relate, inspire, and serve at a deeper level.
My hands went numb. One at a time. First for a few hours… then days… then weeks. It was terrifying.
I was training hard at boxing- great for cardio, but I didn’t realize that the rounded, collapsed posture I was practicing was causing serious nerve compression.
A physio helped me understand what was really happening: Posture matters. And when we hold poor posture for too long (like while planning events or hunched over laptops), it creates tightness in the neck and shoulders and “puts to sleep” muscles like our glutes hello, sleeping booty (a.k.a. gluteal amnesia).
As I recovered, I learned how to not only fix it for myself, but help others, especially people who sit or stand all day to do the same.
That’s why I started teaching my clients, especially event planners and coordinators how to stay pain-free and energized by using posture and movement resets I call Power Pauses. These quick wellness breaks reduce stress, prevent burnout, and help professionals show up with calm, clarity, and presence.
When you feel grounded in your body, you show up with more confidence, focus, and presence whether you’re running a high-stakes event or leading a team.
Event planning is about connection.
And people connect with people not just services.
Want to share your story in a way that builds trust and leaves a lasting impression? π Try this:
Reflect on key moments that shaped why you do what you do.
Share a challenge you’ve overcome or a shift you’ve made in your journey.
Connect it back to how you serve others today.
You don’t need a dramatic story. Just an honest one.
You don’t need a dramatic story, just an honest one.
Your origin story isn’t just about you. It’s a bridge. A way for your clients, vendors, and community to understand your why, trust your expertise, and feel more connected to the experience you deliver.
If you’ve ever felt like your story didn’t matter, trust me, it does.
So take a moment. Reflect on the key turning points that brought you here.
Then ask yourself: How does that journey shape the way you show up in your work today?
That’s the real power of your story and the real power of presence.
